    這樣才能達到 8192.

  2. 當Ixia 的 TX port 傳送時,本身的source mac 會佔一個位置,所以Table size 只能設定為 8191.

    Please refer to the attached log file for the Address Cache test for determining the address table size on a switch.

    I ran this test on 4 ports LM100TX into a NetGear GS516T switch. As you can see I set the initial table size to 10,000 under "Table Size" in Run Setup.
    The script determined that there were 4,095 entries in the filter table.

    I then went to IxExplorer and set 3 ports in default configuration. I set port 1 packet stream to Stop After This Stream with packets per burst of 5,000. I set the MAC DA in the stream to Continuous Increment. I set port 2 packet stream to the same, except MAC DA to fixed and MAC SA to Continuous Increment. I set the rate of both streams to 10% to make sure the switch
    did not drop any frames.

    I removed the cables and reinstalled them to clear the switch table. I did a Start Transmit on port 2 and made sure that 5,000 frames were received on both port 1 and port 3 (flooding). Then I cleared all stats on all ports, and did a Start Transmit on port 1. I saw that port 2 received 5,000, and port 3 received 905. This means that there are (5,000 - 905) = 4,095 address entries in the switch filter table, just like the script results displayed.

    My advice for your customer would be to try the test again like I did above, and try 10,000 for the table size. Then, whatever result the script provides can be verified from IxExplorer as described above.

    I seem to remember that layer 2 switches reserve one table entry internally for the switch management MAC address.
